The Pediatric Department at Shifa College of Medicine offers a robust and dynamic teaching programme at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, in accordance with the objectives narrated in mission statement of Shifa College of Medicine. The curriculum which is presently being revised is based upon our peculiar cultural, socioeconomic situation and epidemiological data. While doing this we remain cognisant of new knowledge and state of art management of various health problems. In this respect PMDC and HEC guidelines are also taken into consideration. The teaching and learning strategies according to the training programmes are conducted are based on time tested, traditional and modern concepts of imparting knowledge; and make use of expanding application of information technology. We are practicing multiple learning strategies including interactive lectures, small group sessions, tutorials, PBL sessions and traditional bed side teaching. The department is also committed to provide comprehensive quality health care to babies and children which includes curative, preventive and rehabilitation services. For fullment of this assignment the department is adequately staffed and members have qualities and expertise to cater for the job. All the facilities such as neonatal care, outdoor clinics and indoor wards are well equipped to provide first class medical care.
