Academic Overview and Curriculum for BSN

Academic Overview

The framework of BS Nursing education at SCN is based on the competency model. This curriculum prepares nurses to use knowledge from science and humanities for making critical decisions and providing holistic care concerning the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of individual, families and communities. The curriculum is in line with the Regulations of the Pakistan Nursing Council and international standards for B.S Nursing degree program.

Curriculum for BSN Degree Program

For the initial academic sessions, SCN had adapted its curriculum from existing nursing institutions within the country.  With the passage of time the curriculum underwent a lot of revisions not only at SCN but also at National level keeping in view changes in student profile; changes in clients profile such as their demographics, awareness level and expectations from health care providers as well as increased role of technology in human life, changed role of nursing / nurses and student’ feedback. Currently SCN is following the structure and sequence of curriculum as recommended by Higher Education Commission (HEC), however the focus of curriculum has been moved from content based to competency-based, primarily to prepare its graduates for providing competent care which is aligned with the needs of clients/ population.
